John Humphrey Noyes

Objective:
I believe that Heaven is now on Earth. Jesus has returned and I plan to make a communial society thats goal is to follow all of God's commands and laws. In this Utopia all believers will strive to follow all of God's laws and do good deeds.

Accomplishments:
My followers were a faithful bunch and my commune grew in numbers throughout the 35 year reign of the Oneida Community. The main way that the commune made money was by way of selling crops grown in the commune or products made in the commune. Although the commune was rather successful some people believed that some practices were extreme such as complex marriage, where every man is married to every woman. I am a minister and have preached my religion for many years. Our followers will be rewarded for their practices and good deeds done for God.

Education:
I attended Dartmouth College, Andover Theological Seminary, and Yale Theological College. I am a certified minister as well.

Federal Support:
My community of believers would greatly benefit from two things. For one, we could use a larger land grant for our commune so that we can have a larger area to plant crops. Secondly, we would like for you to stop prosecuting my believers for adultry because it is our custom for every man to be married to every woman and vice versa.

References:
Charles Finney- is a member of the second Great Awakening and has had a great influense over me and my beliefs. Before I heard him preach I was not interested in religion to the extent that I am now.
John Noyes- My father supplied me with a total of 80,000 dollars after he died to support my community.
